Living Oaks Ranch

Ranch
LO RANCH.jpg

Living Oaks Ranch is nestled in the beautiful North Texas Hill Country among rolling hills, centuries old live oak trees and an abundance of wildlife. Located in an area with rich history including the lost community of Uz.

Named by early settlers for a town mentioned in the biblical account of Job which begins, "There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and turned away from evil" (Job 1:1). Uz was a farming community whose economy was based on the cotton crop. In existence by the 1870s, the town reached its peak in the early 1900s. At its height the community included homes, stores, churches, a cotton gin, school, post office, and telephone exchange.

The word Uz in Hebrew means counsel, advice, or direction. It is our desire to create a place of retreat where many can come to find rest and a fresh encounter with the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

RESCUED
A Journey of Extraordinary Grace

Rescued: to save someone from danger or harm; to free from confinement, danger, or evil.

The word rescue has a unique meaning for those who have been the recipient of someone's heroic efforts. We see people on TV rescued from natural disasters and accidents through police, firefighters, and soldiers’ selfless acts of bravery. While I have never been in need of this kind of physical rescue, my life was a much greater disaster. For generations my family heritage was one of rebellion, anger, rage, and violence. I was born into a family where daily thoughts were focused on survival and avoiding the harsh reality of abuse and torment.

There was literally no escape until I was rescued. God the Father reached down (like one of those coast guard rescue missions you see on TV) and said, “Enough is enough. I am rescuing you from this generational sin and curse. I am setting you on a new path and forever redirecting your steps, your future, and your heritage.” This is the grace filled story of that journey and the life lessons God has so gently taught me along the way.

I have asked the same questions that other survivors have uttered, “Why me and not someone else?” Like the others, I do not have an answer. I just know that I will never get over the fact that I have been––rescued.
